One of the most complex immigration systems in the world is probably the United States immigration. Partly that’s due to the high volume of immigrants and lack of reforms and regulations. A lot of foreign nationals try to become US permanent residents by obtaining a green card through a family relationship. There are other categories but this one is the most common. Becoming a legal permanent resident means you have the right to live and work in the United States. But there are some restrictions. For examples, an immigrant with a green card is not allowed to have a US passport. Also, he or she may lose their status if they break the law or the rules of their residency.
