Often, diuretics prescribed to lower blood pressure by reducing the volume of fluid in the blood can be a cause of hypotension. Blood pressure drugs that keep blood vessels dilated beta-blockers and some other new drugs can also cause these symptoms. The reason? Mederma They slow blood vessels’ natural tendency to constrict when you stop exercising, and your heart rate drops. Antidepressants and some major tranquilizers can also affect blood pressure. So can antiangina drugs, drugs to control chest pain, drugs that control heart rhythm disturbances, antihistamines, and sleeping pills, says Arthur Jacknowitz, harm.D., chairman of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at West Virginia University School of Pharmacy in Morgantown.
