Why Does Skin Get Wrinkled?

October 31st, 2009

If you are wondering why the skin becomes wrinkled, saggy, and dry when we get old, here is a quick explanation for it. The skin cells decreases its production as we age, this includes the diminished production of elastin and collagen –which are responsible for the skin’s elasticity and structure. Also accompanied by aging is the thinning of our dermis, the inner layer of our skin. Because elastin and collagen are decreased when we age, our skin will tend to loose its elasticity that results to depressions on its surface –wrinkles and fine lines as we call it. In addition, this also results to the sagging of the skin. On the other hand, the dryness of the skin is linked to the less oil production as we age. An effective treatment for these contributing factors is the Olay Regenerist anti aging cream.
