I Wanted a Country Lifestyle
September 16th, 2009
After living in the suburbs for about ten years, our family had to opportunity to move into a cabin in the foothills. Right above us by about five miles is mountain property and vacation cabins, so the location is really the best of both worlds. The first thing I did after we settled in was look into how to construct a chicken coop. I’d always wanted to have a more self sufficient lifestyle and figured that chickens were the perfect way to get my feet wet, so to speak. My kids were fascinated with the baby chicks we got and loved feeding and caring for them when they were babies. We now get more eggs than we can use and the hens are so tame that my children can easily catch them.
