Free Music?

Is it still possible to get free music on the Internet? Ages ago I used Napster and would get all the music I wanted for free, then big brother stepped in and with the threat of jail time and fines, I stopped downloading music altogether! Well, I’m looking to beef up my iPod now and I’d like to be able to do it without paying an arm and a leg for the music. Are the current file sharing programs available, like this Ares I’ve heard about, any good? Are there hidden charges around every corner or is it truly free file sharing?
