King Tut DNA excitement
February 8th, 2010
It reminds me a bit of a modern thriller, where everything hangs on whose DNA was on the murder weapon. The announcement of the King Tut DNA results, on February 17th 2010, isn’t quite the same thing but it is no less exciting. The results are due to help identify who King Tut’s father was through comparisons with the DNA of hundreds of other Egyptian mummies. The most popular theory is that Amenhotep III was the boy king’s father. I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but it’s amazing that we can find out in this way. There will still, of course, be the mystery surrounding King Tut’s death to uncover. I wonder what else the DNA could reveal over time…
